Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has revealed he has a “soft spot” for Rangers and could’ve joined the Ibrox club.
Speaking to talkSPORT about taking part in the Rangers Legends v Liverpool Legends game at Ibrox at the beginning of October, he opened up on his opinion on the legendary Glasgow club.
The flying winger – who’s a former teammate of Gers manager Steven Gerrard – claims that at one point there were “talks” of him joining Rangers during his time at Highbury.

“I really enjoyed it. Great experience. Loved it. Loved Ibrox,” said Pennant [talkSPORT 27/10/19].
“Yeah, there was (a chance to join Rangers) – back in the day.
“I think – was I at Arsenal? Possibly – we played a pre-season game there (in 2003) and from then it took my breath away.
“I’ve always had a soft spot for Rangers ever since I got into football, but there was talks of me going.”
Pennant travelled to Ibrox with Arsenal back in 2003 for a pre-season friendly which the Gunners ran out 3-0 winners in.
The Londoners would go on to go the rest of the season unbeaten.

A £6.7m signing for Liverpool from Birmingham back in 2006, Pennant’s career has seen him play for 15 clubs in total from across England and Spain.
The 36-year-old right-winger last turned out for Billericay Town in the sixth tier of English football and is currently without a club.
