Jermain Defoe has been spotted back in Rangers training ahead of Saturday’s Scottish Premiership fixture against Dundee United.
The 37-year-old forward is yet to feature for the club this season due to a hamstring injury sustained in a friendly against Motherwell in July.

The problem was initially only due to rule him out for a short period but a setback ensured that he’s still building up fitness a month and a half after the incident.
Steven Gerrard claimed earlier in the week that the England international was close to returning to full training [Rangers.co.uk], though, and he was snapped by the club photographer on Thursday as Rangers stepped up preparations for the weekend fixture.
Defoe can be spotted jogging and taking part in some training drills, although it’s unclear whether or not he took part in the entire session.
With Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos both available for Saturday, it seems unlikely that Defoe will be rushed back after such a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
After all, his last competitive outing for the Gers came in early March, prior to the global health crisis.
The player himself appears to think he’s available for selection again, though.
He posted a training image to Instagram on Thursday afternoon accompanied by the caption; ‘I’m back’.

The Gers are taking on a Dundee United side at Ibrox who have received some positive injury news of their own as they look to bounce back from a hiding at Kilmarnock last time out.
