Rangers captain James Tavernier has sent an Instagram message to Bournemouth goalscorer Marcus.

The Ibrox skipper is the elder brother of the reported £15m Premier League attacker, who opened his Premier League account for the season against Sheffield United.

Scoring a decisive brace in 3-1 Bournemouth win over the Bramall Lane side, Rangers fans would’ve noticed a familiar celebration.

Marcus Tavernier followed in the footsteps of brother James to produce a baseball-inspired celebration which appears to be linked to the Rangers skipper.

Taking to Instagram stories after the Premier League clash, James Tavernier shared the official Bournemouth post of Marcus doing the celebration with the caption “we on deck” (25/11/23).

James Tavernier lauds brother Marcus

Rangers fans have gotten used to James Tavernier pulling out the baseball celebration with the Ibrox captain once again the leading goalscorer in the club’s squad.

Having netted 11 goals already this season, despite being a right-back, Rangers fans might bleat and moan at times but James Tavernier will be sorely missed when he’s gone.

South of the border brother Marcus Tavernier, who plays more advanced than Rangers star James, is flying the family flag at the Vitality Stadium.

Highly-rated in his own right, Marcus Tavernier will be delighted to get off the mark for the season after scoring five Premier League goals in the last campaign.

The result leaves Bournemouth 16th in the Premier League, seven points off Sheffield United who occupy 18th place in the English top flight.

Rangers skipper on deck in title fight

As Rangers prepare to face off against Aberdeen, it’s clear the club’s skipper is very much on deck in this season’s title fight.

Hauling the club back into the match with a penalty goal and vital assist in that pivotal 2-1 victory over Hearts at Ibrox last month, Tavernier’s role in the squad is as defined as ever.

A relentless presence down the right-hand side, elements of James Tavernier’s game are maturing with age as his impressive athleticism continues right into his 30s.

Recently hailed by manager Philippe Clement, if Rangers are to get their hands on silverware this season you can be rest assured James Tavernier will have been central to achieving it.
