Is this the best Rangers Celtic combined XI?

If one thing has come out of a whirlwind first few months in Scottish football it’s that the gap has undeniably shrunk. The Rangers Celtic dynamic is at least beginning to show signs of shifting.

Partly because of Celtic’s incompetence in the transfer window, but also because of what Steven Gerrard has done at Ibrox. The Scouser and his team have done a superb job at Rangers in the opening half of the season. You cannot take that away from them.

They overhauled the playing squad and took the club on a European adventure. We signed some players of real quality and also, to Gerrard’s credit, he has developed players already at the club. James Tavernier, Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos the most notable.

But whilst it’s been impressive few months in Govan, Celtic continue to lead the way. And not just in the league. They have a Betfred Cup trophy under their belt and are on the hunt for a treble treble. It’s up to Rangers to stop them.

A consistent argument from our friends to the East has been that no Rangers player would get in their side. I believe that this is undeniably no longer the case.

Rangers are improving every week – our performance v Hibs last night only lacked goals – and we will continue to grow as a team.

Celtic are visibly weaker than last year.

Here’s my combined Rangers Celtic XI. And on current form, I think it’s very fair indeed.

Yes, there’s five Rangers players in there. And they deserve to be.
