Frozen out star Jon Flanagan started last night as Rangers dismantled Hearts 3-0.
Once again playing in a more unfamiliar left-back berth, Flanno proved a sturdy deputy for the injured Borna Barisic and suspended Andy Halliday.

At times he did look a little rusty, but it was a solid, dependable performance by the former Liverpool man. He even managed a trademark crunching challenge.
The player’s work rate and professionalism can’t be faulted. He hasn’t played since the match against Cowdenbeath on the 30th of January. He gave away a penalty in that one and
He has also only turned out four times since November. Yet, with injuries and suspensions holding us back, in he came. And he worked as hard as anyone.
It was a top, sweeping performance by Rangers with a lot of purpose. And whilst it was evident Flanagan isn’t the long term answer on the left, he was reliable.
The player seems to struggle with the pace of the side and long-term we need greater quality. Even at squad level. There’s a nervousness in his game when on the ball.

But with Flanagan signing a two-year deal at the beginning of this season, is there room for the former England cap next year?
Or will Gerrard seek to get the player off the wage bill?
He’s dependable and has ample experience. More so than another Rangers full-back flirting with the exit door at the club.
