There’s been plenty of excitement amongst the Rangers support today as a video showing off the latest Rangers kit was controversially leaked online.
Fans have largely given the home top a seal of approval, whilst the away and third kits are splitting opinion.
But for those who can remember or have an interest in these things, did you notice some similarities between the home top of tomorrow and one of yesterday?
As you can see, the kit bears a striking resemblance to the one worn in the 1983/84 season. With the white and red crew neck collar, similar rims around the arms and a slightly lighter blue colour, it seems this Rangers kit has been the starting point for the new one.
Hummel has played it superbly since taking over the designing and manufacturing of our kits and have to be given credit.
Amidst the maelstrom and chaos of the merchandising deal in the background, they’ve gone about their job superbly. And given us two season’s worth of stylish kits.
Special mention too must go to how they’ve listened to supporters. There are several little touches which make all the difference this year.

In the leaked video, the new home kit’s badge looks embroidered, whilst a return to the embossed Rangers designs within the kit is a throwback to kits of the 90s and early 2000s.
The Rangers kit leak also appears to indicate a new sponsorship deal for the club.
The home kit is a stylish, retro and iconic modern football kit, so no wonder fans are loving it. And we’ve probably got that old Umbro kit from the 80s to thank for the inspiration.
