Is Ryan Kent solution to stuttering Sheyi Ojo Rangers form?

Rangers winger Sheyi Ojo has come under for a lack of commitment and drive in a blue shirt against Hearts and was eventually replaced by the returning Ryan Kent.

The Liverpool loanee is a player of clear talent but risks turning into a consistently inconsistent and frustrating presence on the pitch.

There’s a growing feeling that Ojo perhaps needs a spell on the sidelines, but is this something Steven Gerrard indirectly alluded to when discussing the return of the man who replaced him at Tynecastle?

“Yeah, I was toing and froing over whether to start him or not,” explains Gerrard [Rangers].

“But obviously he’s been missing for quite a few weeks now so we decided to put him on the bench and try to get 30 into his legs.

“Hopefully he can get up to speed as quick as he can because we need him firing as soon as possible.”

The comments suggest that had Ryan Kent been fit, he’d have likely started on the left-hand side.

Rangers also have the likes of Jordan Jones to come back into the side, whilst some fans were disappointed that Greg Stewart wasn’t given a start at Tynecastle.

Rangers have options and it’s clear that when Ryan Kent returns to full fitness he’ll be the preferred one on that left-hand side.

Perhaps his return will be the best thing for Sheyi Ojo who needs to realise that he must work harder for the side if he’s to make the grade at Ibrox, or anywhere else.
