Louis Moult has been linked with Rangers fairly regularly in the past, but is now the time to go and get him?
So far this season, the former Motherwell striker has failed to make any impact with Preston North End. He’s only been able to manage two goals in 12 Preston appearances, with just six of them being starts. He did net in the 3-3 draw with Aston Villa last time out, but hasn’t done anything outside of that.
The likes of Lukas Nmecha and Tom Barkhuizen are both more favoured than Moult at Preston. To say it’s been a successful transition from the Premiership in Scotland to the Championship in England would be a lie.

It wouldn’t be overly-surprising if Preston were willing to listen to offers for the Englishman. Considering they’re also in the hunt for another forward in the summer, they could look to get Moult off their payroll.
Rangers shouldn’t look at his Preston stats alone and make a judgement on him. Moult is an extremely talented footballer, and has plenty of pedigree in Scotland.
His Motherwell days were impressive
During his time at Motherwell, Moult was a consistent big-game player. He bagged on 38 occasions during a three-year stint at Motherwell, and became a cult-hero. He’s since kept tabs on his old club, and is seen fairly often up north watching Motherwell’s game on big occasions.
Moult managed to net on four occasions against Rangers for the Steelmen. He netted just as many against Celtic during his time at Fir Park. That’s a total of eight goals against the Old Firm for a mid-table side.

Given the failings this season of Umar Sadiq up top, Rangers could use another signing to make sure there are three top strikers currently at the club. Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty won’t be going anywhere soon, but it wouldn’t surprise you if Sadiq headed back to Roma sooner rather than later.
This is, of course, all speculation. Rangers haven’t been linked with nor have given any indication that they are interested in Moult anymore. There is also no hints that Sadiq’s future will be anywhere other than at Ibrox.
Would you take Moult at Rangers however? Let us know in the comments below.
