Jordan Rossiter’s injury concerns have been greater than anyone in the squad in recent years. Has he now suffered yet another set-back?
Rangers have a plethora of options in the midfield nowadays, with competition at a real high. The likes of Graham Dorrans and Ross McCrorie already find themselves way down the pecking order. Rossiter is even further down than that.
One of Mark Warburton’s big signings during the summer of 2016, Rossiter was supposed to bring some flair to Rangers. Instead, all he’s brought is injuries and a big pay-packet for the club. It can be described as one of the worst deals in the club’s history.

It looks as though the former Liverpool midfielder may have also received another set-back after the latest news. A Rangers reserve squad pitched up against Dundee United at St Andrew’s on Monday. The likes of Lee Wallace made the squad, but Rossiter didn’t.
A chance for game-time
These reserve contests are supposed to allow players such as Rossiter the opportunity to build up match fitness. In recent times, we’ve seen the youngster involved in first-team training. Then again, we’ve seen that a fair few times in the past.
It just feels like it’s set-back after set-back with Rossiter. He’s proving to be an extreme waste of a buy from the club, even if they did get him for no transfer fee.
That’s not to say there hasn’t been high moments. Rossiter started well under Warburton over two years ago. He was one of the real impressive performers in a 3-1 win at Dundee back in 2016. He also netted for the club on the final day of last season against Hibernian at Easter Road.

Other than that, Rossiter has barely been seen in a Rangers jersey. The latest omission from the reserve squad could mean he’s picked up yet another knock.
Umar Sadiq was another notable absentee. Despite claiming earlier on today that he was looking to fight for his place, he’s another reserve regular that was missing. He netted an impressive brace against St Mirren in one of his previous reserve matches.
As for Rossiter, however, he continues to frustrate the life out of Rangers fans who wish he would return to action.
