Is it too late in the transfer window for potential £20m Rangers transfer?

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos cut a dejected figure in the final match the Colombian will play during this neurotic transfer window as the Gers beat Ross County 2-0.

With the window set to finally slam shut tomorrow, it will signal the end of the long period of wheeling, dealing and trying to second-guess the next move of the powerful forward.

But should Lille return in the coming hours with the £20m Rangers reportedly want for the striker, will this come too little, too late?

In the past Rangers have shut down the suggestion Colombian fire-brand Morelos could be sold in the final moments of the window.

Morelos’ importance to the team meant that a quickfire sale with limited space in the window would leave too little time to replace the player.

However, this time around there has never been more concrete interest in Morelos than that of Ligue 1 Lille, who has a £16.25m bid rejected earlier in the window [Daily Mail].

Rangers are also better stocked in the forward positions than they ever have been under Steven Gerrard, the summer signings of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten adding to the full-time contract of Jermain Defoe.

Whilst most Rangers fans will be focusing on the players coming into the club over the next 24 hours, there will also be one eye on this particular outgoing.

But as has been the case in the last few transfer windows, his future may well depend on whether or not a club is willing to meet the demands of the powers that be at Ibrox.
