Former Rangers star Kyle Lafferty might’ve made a meal of his second chance at Ibrox, but could he get one last shot at redemption in Scotland with former club Hearts?
The Northern Irish striker’s career looked to be stuttering when the 32-year-old joined Norwegian strugglers Sarpsborg after being released by Rangers.
Narrowly avoiding relegation, there was earlier talk of a potential new contract with the Eliteserien side.

But reports in the January transfer window have suggested that Lafferty could be set for a Tynecastle reprieve from his Scandinavian exile.
There were claims that Hearts’ Austin MacPhee has already reached out to Lafferty to discuss this shot at Scottish Premiership redemption [Daily Record].
The former Burnley, Sion, Palermo and Norwich forward joined Rangers in the summer of 2018 from Hearts but went on to be one of the season’s major disappointments.
Off-field problems clouded what could’ve been a glorious return to Ibrox and after a bright start, Lafferty soon fell by the wayside.
That’s despite capturing the hearts of the Jambos fanbase and becoming a popular figure in Edinburgh.
After failing to recapture the form that earned him the move, there was a real feeling that the big striker had let the club, the fans and Steven Gerrard down.
Between Lafferty’s stumbling form and the presence (or lack of) of Umar Sadiq Rangers were left with only Alfredo Morelos to lead the line last campaign.
It wasn’t enough and Lafferty was eventually released early from his two-year deal, leaving in July last year.
His career appeared to be nosediving ever since.

But should Hearts make a move for the striker, it offers a huge shot at redemption for the Ulsterman.
Hearts are currently languishing in 12th place in the Scottish Premiership, five points adrift of Hamilton in 11th.
Could Laff be the man to salvage this Jambos side’s season and provide one final swansong in Scottish football?
