Whilst Barry Ferguson is tasked with steadying the ship at Rangers, who the Ibrox club will appoint as their 20th permanent manager remains a source of near constant speculation.
Rangers have been going through managers at a rate alien to the history of the Ibrox club, with four permanent gaffers sitting in the Gers hot seat in the last five years.
Andy Halliday reckons Barry Ferguson is a long-shot but the Rangers legend deserves credit for bringing a bit of bite back to a confidence-sapped Rangers squad.
Neil McCann has backed Barry too but insists that such decisions are above his head with the US takeover of Rangers some way down the line.
Now a clip has emerged of one potential Rangers manager candidate making a positive impact at his current club.

Liam Rosenior shows Rangers manager credentials with classy Valentin Barco moment
Liam Rosenior might not be the glamorous choice to become the next permanent Rangers manager but the former Hull City star’s stock in the game continues to rise.
Currently in charge at Strasbourg in France, Rosenior has been clipped applauding young Argentine midfielder Valentin Barco after a recent Ligue 1 match against Lyon.
In an impressive 4-2 win over the French giants – who face Manchester United in the Europa League quarter finals – Barco was instrumental in the middle of the pitch and central to the victory.
But the former Boca Juniors talent’s performance was made even more impressive by the fact that the 20-year-old’s partner had just given birth to their first child an hour and a half before kick-off.
In a touching moment, Liam Rosenior singled out Barco in the Strasbourg dressing room come full time and announced to his teammates that he’d earned three days off.
Valentin Barco is currently out on loan with Strasbourg from Brighton, the Seagulls having paid Boca Juniors the guts of £8m to sign the midfielder in 2024 (BBC Sport).
The clip gives an insight into Rosenior’s man management skills, with the former England youth international turning up trees in Alsace.
Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior looks a good fit for Rangers job
Liam Rosenior might be a left of field choice to take over at Rangers but the 40-year-old coach has been tipped to have a very bright future in the game.
Rosenior had stints in charge of Derby County and then Hull City before joining as Strasbourg manager in 2024, replacing French legend Patrick Viera.
Rosenior is making a big impact with the youngest squad in the entire division, this latest victory over Lyon just another step forward for the club currently in sixth place in the French top flight.
In a 14-point transfer plan, Rangers technical director Nils Koppen made clear Rangers’ intentions to build a young squad that they can spin for big profits in the future.
With a Champions League spot within their sights, Rosenior leads a talented young team built on solid foundations.
Strasbourg went on a run of five clean sheets in Ligue 1 recently and are currently unbeaten in their last seven French top flight matches.
The French outfit have also conceded the fewest league goals of any team in the top five leagues since December 2024 (8).
Rangers – who continue to concede first and early in matches – have shipped at least two goals in five of their last six matches.
Combine that defensive nouse with Rangers’ determination to build a young hungry squad and suddenly Liam Rosenior starts to tick a lot of boxes.
Interestingly, Rosenior has links to Rangers assistant manager Issame Charai, who moved to Glasgow from Strasbourg in January.
Charai was part of the team who were appointed at Strasbourg in July 2024 and worked under Rosenior up until that switch to Rangers.
It’s also worth noting that Strasbourg are part of the BlueCo sports consortium group which contains Chelsea and is headed by US investor Todd Boehly.
Whilst San Francisco 49ers chief Jed York insists Rangers are separate from the NFL giants and even Leeds United, the Gers are preparing to move into a multi-club model themselves.
Rangers will be watching Rosenior’s progress closely with the former EFL star ticking a number of boxes.
