Statistics published by Football Web Pages, via the Daily Record show yet more evidence of a Steven Gerrard effect at Rangers.
Since the 38-year-old arrived at Ibrox in May, things have improved on the pitch. It’s been far from plain sailing, but the Gers finished a position higher in the league table, earned eight more points, won two Old Firm fixtures, and came within a whisker of the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Furthermore, in the transfer market, the club is faring better. The January loan signing of Jermain Defoe was a big statement and one that almost certainly wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for Gerrard.
The boss is ushering in significant changes off the pitch, too. Both at the Hummel Training Centre and at the stadium itself [
It’s at the latter that this latest evidence of the Gerrard effect was collected, too.
This season, there’s been an increase in average attendances for SPL fixtures at Ibrox.

Across the 2017/18 season, an average of 49,171 descended on the ground, whereas during 2018/19, that figure rose to 49,562. That’s an impressive increase of 391 fans per game (a percentage increase of 0.79).
We’ve seen a large number of sellouts this season, so there’s not much room for improvement left for the Rangers supporters.
It’s another tick for Stevie G, who, despite not clinching any silverware this season, still has the majority of the fanbase onside.
