If reports are true, how much would Jermain Defoe's wages cost Rangers?

Rangers are fronting half of Jermain Defoe’s £130k per week wages, at least according to reports earlier today.
The Times have reported that Rangers are spending £65k a week to have the Premier League legend at the club. It’s a very steep figure, and there’s absolutely no confirmation that Defoe is even on such heavy wages at Bournemouth.
The Mirror reported back in 2017 that Bournemouth were paying Defoe £130k per week. This is someone in their mid-30s. It’s also Bournemouth. It just feels unrealistic.

Sillyseason.com suggests that the Cherries are actually paying Defoe £65k a week themselves. Again, it’s no confirmation at all.
But working on the premise that Rangers are somehow fronting almost three times the wages of their highest earning player, how much would £65k per week actually cost the club over Defoe’s contract?

It’s an 18 month loan deal with the option to recall after six. Hilariously, six months at £65k per week amounts to £1,690,000 (65 x 52 / 12 x 6). Is that a sign 55 is coming home?
If Defoe was to go the full 18 months, you simply times that amount by three.

That’s £5,070,000. Is that really that bad? Especially, if you consider it’s spent over two seasons, and involves no transfer fee. It’s his wages alone. Is it worth the fanfare and financials if Defoe fires us to the league title?

The likes of Carlos Pena will wind up costing the club a meatier amount come their contract’s end.
Still, got to spend those Euromillions some how…
