Signing Dominic Solanke could mean Umar Sadiq is done at Rangers, as speculation hots up.
The Express have reported that Rangers could still make a move for the Liverpool starlet before the transfer window ends. Solanke has also been on Celtic’s wishlist in the past, and many see the potential move as a real coup.
For now, it looks like a move could still be unlikely, as surely Steven Gerrard doesn’t need a fourth striker. The Rangers manager, has, in the past, spoken about how difficult it is to keep three goalkeepers happy. This would then also be the case for four strikers.
What this could mean if Solanke signs, however, is that Sadiq would be finished at the club.

His loan wouldn’t be cut short, but chances for the Roma man would be extremely limited. Supporters have been keen to see what their new-man can do, and he impressed against St Mirren reserves in a friendly on Tuesday night.

Sadiq also scored on his debut in a friendly against Wigan. However, since then, opportunities have been limited.
Kyle’s quality
Gerrard has already signed Kyle Lafferty in the last couple of weeks to bolster attacking options. He’s already bagged a brace in the 3-3 draw with Motherwell last Sunday. What this means is that Sadiq is already playing third fiddle to he and Alfredo Morelos.
With the form the Colombian forward is in, and rumours of a new contract persisting, he won’t be getting dropped anytime soon.

Bringing in Solanke would automatically put him ahead of Sadiq in the pecking order. The Liverpool man is a class act and would still be a tremendous acquisition for Rangers should they get him on board.
Since signing for Liverpool, Solanke has made 27 appearances and scored just one goal. However, only five of those appearances were as a starter. The 20-year-old also hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football for Jurgen Klopp’s men this season.
Quality signing?
A move for Solanke would certainly be interesting, and Rangers could do with a man of his quality leading the line. Working alongside Lafferty and Morelos for the striker’s jersey, Rangers would have plenty of goals in them.
Sadiq’s only chance of a reprieve at that point would be if Gerrard switched to two up front. However, that would leave him in the same situation he is in now and needing two injuries/suspensions to receive game-time.
There would be no way Sadiq is chosen ahead of a talent like Solanke, and his signing would be terrible news for the Nigerian forward.
However, for now, a move for the Liverpool youngster is still just speculation.
