If Andy Halliday misses Rangers Dundee – Borna Barisic must take chance

Andy Halliday looks set to miss the Scottish Premiership match with Dundee as Steven Gerrard revealed the player is struggling with a groin problem.
Since joining Rangers, Gerrard has always spoke positively about diehard bluenose Halliday. It was the same today as the Rangers Gaffer faced questions on Andy making the left back berth his own in recent games.
But with a tight groin holding Halliday back, he could well miss out tomorrow night. And if he does, Borna Barisic must take the chance to leave an impression on the side.

“Andy’s got a little bit of a tight groin at the moment,” said Gerrard. “I know he wants to be available tomorrow but I’ve got to make a sensible decision for Andy.
“I think I might have to take the decision out of his hands because Andy would play with three or four injuries. That’s the character and the man we’re talking about.
“I might have to be sensible with Andy because we’ve got some important fixtures coming up after tomorrow as well.”

Halliday now serious competition for Barisic’s left back berth

Andy Halliday has proven a very able deputy to first choice left back Barisic when called upon.
In fact, Halliday has proven an able deputy across the pitch when asked to play for the club. Just today Gerrard called him a “leader” and paid homage to his character.
Borna Barisic’s form has meant that Halliday has been given an ongoing chance at left back. Halliday even scored after replacing a timid Barisic against Kilmarnock. He looks hungrier on the ball and more willing to dig into the physical side of the game.
