Few Old Firm derbies end with the final whistle and Sunday’s latest instalment was no different with records tumbling all over the place for Rangers.

At 2-0 down, the game seemed out of sight but a repeat of the dramatic 2-2 encounter when the Light Blues were reduced to nine men, saw a 3-3 draw at Ibrox the least that Phillipe Clement deserved.

The Rangers manager is getting the most out of his squad and it looks like fans are believing that something special could happen with two staggering records providing the evidence.

Old Firm breaks records as Rangers see new highs

The current board are intent on upgrading Ibrox and making it one of the finest stadiums on the continent where it already holds UEFA’s highest rating.

In terms of capacity, there are limitations even if all possible options are being investigated.

This summer sees the Copland Road stand get a few more seats and an improved disabled section whilst hospitality facilities are also being upgraded.

With no away fans present on Sunday, the need for segregation was removed which meant that a crowd of 50,936 fans was in attendance.

For perspective, that’s the highest since John Greig’s testimonial in 1978.

It wasn’t just the fans in Ibrox that were breaking records, the lunchtime kickoff isn’t usually one that attracts a big audience, however, on this occasion the 3-3 thriller saw Sky Sports gain their biggest ever for an SPFL encounter.

The Philippe Clement effect.

A huge 1.44m tuned in for what was a titanic game with the Scottish Premiership title at stake.

A win for either side would have put them in pole position in a game that would have delighted the neutral and done little for the blood pressure for those who had a stake in it.

This is Scottish football.

A product that is neglected by those that run it and undervalued and under sold.

Every week we see games like this, it is unique, crazy and, for all that the quality might not always be there, as we saw on Sunday, the entertainment is just as good as anywhere else.
