If Rangers don’t look completely different by the time next season comes around, there will be a lot of questions to ask.
As with previous summers, there are five players who are out of contract and it would be a surprise if any of them stay at Ibrox.
This includes Leon Balogun, who should be the template for his successor, not wrapped up and strapped up in the hope that he can manage 20 games at his usual high level.
Of those who are probably leaving, Balogun would want to stay with Ianis Hagi also revealing his love for Rangers on a number of occasions.
However, after getting injured in the Old Firm derby, it looks like his time in Light Blue is over.

Has Ianis Hagi played his last game for Rangers?
Speaking as part of the pre-match build up for the visit of Aberdeen, Barry Ferguson revealed that Hagi’s season is over:
“Ianis, unfortunately, is going to miss the rest of the season. I’m disappointed for him. I spoke to him a couple of times. He’s hurting. To be fair to Ianis, he’s a brilliant kid to work with. He’s got a lot to offer, so I’m gutted for him. Nana, he’s done well to come back.
“He’s still not at the level that I would want him to be. But again, he’s had a full week in training. So, hopefully, we’ll see him on the pitch before the end of the season.
“Robin Propper trained today, so we’re starting to get a few guys back ready to play. As a manager, I want it to be difficult to pick an XI. I don’t want it to be easy. So it’s good to have a few guys back into the fold.”
Should Hagi be offered a new Rangers contract?
Hagi might not have hit the heights that were hoped for him when he signed for £3m in 2020, however, he still has a solid highlight reel.
Goals in the Europa League and the Old Firm derby will be cherished, and his part in the title success of 2020/21 can’t be downplayed.
With eight goals and 15 assists in 46 appearances, a lot of which were off the bench, Hagi was a player capable of moments that made a difference, even if he could be inconsistent on a week to week basis.
Even in the league this season, Hagi has 11 goal contributions in 23 games, but over 16 games in terms of total minutes, which shows that he can still produce numbers when he is given the chance.
As a higher earner, it would be a surprise if he stays, however, injured or not, Hagi should be offered a new deal, whether or not he accepts it is another story.
