Rangers limped to defeat against Aberdeen in a result that serves to only increase the pressure on Philippe Clement.
The manager knows that what is being produced isn’t good enough, however, failing to win away from Ibrox again will only make calls from fans for him to be sacked only grow more intense.
With Jimmy Thelin proving in the Aberdeen dugout how quickly it is to assert a game plan, Scott Allan believes that Philippe Clement is only reeling off excuses in an attempt to save his Rangers job.

Scott Allan can’t see what Rangers plan is under Philippe Clement
Speaking on BBC’s Sportsound, former Hibs and Celtic midfielder Scott Allan said of Clement’s game plan:
“I compare (Thelin showing belief in squad) to Philippe Clement. It mirrors what you’re doing on the training ground.
“Aberdeen you can see they are working at things he’s instilled and what he expects from the players, those who start and who come on.
“That’s what I can’t see in this Rangers side. That’s why I’ve touched on the work from Monday through to matchday. I can’t see what he’s doing on the training ground, with Aberdeen you can see that.
“Belief, character – players know that’s the way they’re gonna play whether they’re getting beat 2-0 away at Celtic, whether they’re away at Ibrox down the line, that’s how they’re gonna play. The players know what’s expected.
“With this Rangers team in comparison, from week to week we never know what we’re gonna get out them. That’s the difference between a manager who, for me, looks like a potential top top manager, and one who’s just getting by at the moment.”
Thelin makes Clement look stupid with instant impact
There have been signs of recovery, but not enough.
With less time and less money, the Aberdeen manager is producing better results and an obviously more cohesive game plan.
That he did what Clement has failed to do, and took points off Celtic in his first attempt, only adds salt into the wounds.
As against Celtic, the power of simplicity, pace, aggression and work rate went a long way in undoing whatever Clement had told his troops.
That their game plan was this basic and still enough to beat a hapless Rangers is a worrying sign for both the short, and long term.
