Rangers fans have been left buzzing after the club confirmed the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final draw.

The Gers have been handed a second consecutive home tie and will face Livingston at Ibrox on the midweek of 21-23 September.

Steven Gerrard’s side reached the draw courtesy of a 5-0 home win over Dunfermline on Friday night in the Last 16, their first match in the competition as they were exempt from the group stages.

John Lundstram, Scott Wright, Ianis Hagi and Kemar Roofe (2) were the goalscorers in a much-needed strong performance following three consecutive defeats.

The manager has made it abundantly clear that he is going ‘full throttle’ in the domestic cup competitions this season, in a bid to end his struggles in both, and a home tie against Livi represents a decent QF draw.

The Gers defeated David Martindale’s side 3-0 in their Premiership opener earlier this month, with the Light Blues taking ten points from a possible twelve against the West Lothian outfit in the league last season without conceding a goal.

Celtic have landed the easiest draw on paper with a home tie against Raith Rovers, with Dundee United vs Hibernian and Dundee vs St Johnstone the two remaining ties.

When Rangers confirmed the news via their Twitter page on Sunday evening, most fans responded positively and a triumph over Livi in Govan would leave the Gers just two victories away from the trophy.
