How much did Rangers pay for Todd Cantwell? Many people have been asking this on Google after the 24-year-old’s bright start in Glasgow.

Michael Beale signed the England Under-21 international from Norwich on what the club’s official announcement describes as a long-term contract.

Cantwell was the first signing of the Beale era since the 42-year-old replaced Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

However, plenty of people are unsure of the exact amount Rangers paid Norwich for his services.

So, how much did Rangers pay for Cantwell? Let’s take a look…

How much did Rangers pay for Todd Cantwell?

Well, Rangers got themselves a bargain – to say the least.

Most outlets have simply described the sum as an undisclosed fee, but – according to The Sun – the Scottish giants paid just £1.5m to sign Cantwell.

That represents a very shrewd deal for Rangers, given the level of interest in the attacking midfielder just a few years ago.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool wanted to sign Cantwell at a time where Jürgen Klopp’s side were dominating English football, while also making a number of wise investments such as the £8m signing of Andy Robertson.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham were also said to be keen on signing Cantwell, with Norwich demanding a sum of £30m.

The Athletic only broke that news in February 2020, so for Rangers to secure his signature for £28.5m less than that figure just three years later represents a clever investment.

Cantwell is yet to score or assist a goal in his two Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers so far, but he has shown flashes of his quality.

The Rangers No.13 has recorded a pass success rate of 88.7% for Rangers in his two appearances, while also winning two freekicks per game and 1.5 successful tackles per 90 minutes – as shown on WhoScored.

Once Cantwell fully settles in, the Ibrox faithful could be set to see a special player emerge in Glasgow.
