Manchester United legend Paul Ince claims that Alex Rae helped sway him to the Rangers side of Glasgow.
The former England international claims that he’s always hard a soft spot for the Ibrox side but that his time with Alex Rae only cemented it.
Paul Ince and Alex Rae played together during their Wolves days and the ex-Rangers midfielder was the Englishman’s assistant at MK Dons, Notts County and Blackpool.
Paul Ince talks Alex Rae and Rangers allegiances
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Paul Ince also claims that his time working with tragic Rangers hero Fernando Ricksen and the club’s team from the 90s cemented his Ibrox leanings.
“I spent a lot of time Alex Rae and he was a mad, mad Rangers fan and it’s great see him now working at the club he loves,” said Ince. “And when I go back to when Gazza was at Rangers they had such a good team.
“Also, I managed a charity team for Fernando Ricksen and I’ve just always had a soft spot for Rangers. It was horrendous what happened with Ricksen and I’m glad I played a part in it.
“But I’ve always had that Rangers kind of thing, Ally McCoist and all that. I don’t really know a lot about Celtic as a team. I know when John Barnes went there under Kenny Dalglish but Rangers have always been the team I actually like.”
Rangers coach to stick around?
Alex Rae actually played for Rangers after his time with Paul Ince at Wolves, the midfielder joining the Ibrox club in from the Molineux club in 2004.
The two clearly have a positive relationship having played together on the park and worked together off the pitch too.
But kudos to Alex Rae for spreading the good word of Rangers with the ex-Ibrox midfielder now back at the club in a coaching capacity.

Returning to Rangers following the sacking of Michael Beale, Philippe Clement has chosen to retain the coach’s influence on the squad.
By the latest sounds surrounding Alex Rae too, the ex-Dundee and St Mirren manager might find himself at Ibrox a little while longer.
