Bournemouth midfielder and reported Ibrox target Jack Wilshere claims that he wasn’t approached by Steven Gerrard with a view to a move to Rangers.
The midfielder was out-of-contract prior to signing for the Cherries following his release from West Ham in October and was heavily linked to Ibrox in the press.

In a Twitter Q&A following the midfielder signing for the Championship side, Wilshere simply said “nope” when asked if he was ever approached by Steven Gerrard.
There was much speculation regarding Wilshere’s future with dubious journalist Nicola Schira stirring the pot by claiming the Gers were in “advanced negotiations” for the player.

A source close to the player had also issued somewhat of a “come-and-get-me” plea on behalf of Wilshere when it was claimed he’d be open to a move to Ibrox [Press Association].
This was then intensified when Wilshere gave an interview to a leading Dubai radio station whilst he was in the Middle East doing warm-weather training and admitted he’d be open to an Ibrox move.
“It would interest me because it’s Steven Gerrard,” said Wilshere [Dubai Eye].
“That’s no disrespect to Scotland.
“It never crossed my mind playing there but now that Gerrard’s there the door certainly isn’t closed by it wouldn’t be my first choice.”
Rangers instead never opted to move from the player Wilshere would sign a deal with Bournemouth following a spell training with the club.
