Hearts winger Jamie Walker has opened up on the “regret” he feels about the entire Rangers transfer debacle.
Hearts reportedly refused to deal with Rangers for Walker for anything under £1m, despite the winger having only a year left on his contract.
The following January, Walker moved to Wigan for a reported £300k. It’s a move that never worked out for a player unlucky with injuries, and he’s opened up on the departure.

“I don’t have regrets about the departure, but maybe the whole Rangers thing,” Jamie Walker told the Edinburgh Evening News.
“That turned into a bit of a mess. It was tough and I think maybe the club and myself didn’t deal with that in the best way. It’s all in the past. I’m looking to the future and to doing well for Hearts.
“There was a perception from people on the outside, because of the Rangers situation, that Craig and I didn’t get on. That wasn’t the case.
“We were both men about it and accepted that what happened, happened. I’ve always got on with Craig and I like him as a manager.
“He seems to like me as a player and can get the best out of me, so there were no hard feelings between us.”
The talented winger is only 26 and returns to Tynecastle after a challenging few months at Wigan.

Walker only played eight times for the Latics and spent last season on loan at League One Peterborough.
There’s no doubt that the saga surrounding Rangers had an impact on the player’s career.
