A heartbroken Celtic fan has thrown in the title towel and conceded defeat to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership race despite more than half the season still needing to be played.
Members of the Celtic support are feeling the pressure as Rangers start the season on emphatic form and stretch out an early nine-point lead in the league table.
Celtic might have two games in hand but that hasn’t stopped many of the Parkhead club’s supporters abandoning ship amid a run of two wins in seven games.
Taking to popular football phone-in Clyde Superscoreboard, the Celtic fan caller believes the league title has already been decided in November.
“I think the league’s gone, the reason being no matter if Celtic win all their games, I just think Rangers are on fire,” said caller Michael [Clyde SSB 09/11/20].
“Even if Celtic do win their games in hand, I just don’t see many teams in that Scottish Premiership taking any points off Rangers.
“To be honest with you, 13 points ahead and still nine points clear, yesterday, okay we won 4-1, that’s okay, but I knew Rangers were going to slaughter Hamilton Accies.
“No disrespect to Hamilton Accies, but I knew Rangers were going to beat them no problem at all, so good luck to them with that one.
“I just think thirteen goals as I said, and I think Rangers are going to stop 10-in-a-row, and I’m just being realistic here.
“I know people are going to say ‘He’s being too pessimistic’. I’m not, I’m being realistic here. I see Rangers, I watch them, I’m a Celtic fan and I still watch Rangers, I see how organised they are.”
The caller’s pessimism sums up much of the negativity spewing out of a Celtic support spoiled with success over the last decade.
With the cracks beginning to show, all Rangers need to do is turn the title screw and watch the House of Cards fall in the business end of the season.
