German club Hamburg congratulated Rangers on Twitter on Saturday following their dominant win over Celtic.
The Gers triumphed 2-0 at Parkhead in the first Old Firm of 2020 courtesy of two goals from centre-back, Connor Goldson.

Steven Gerrard’s men controlled game more or less from start to finish and despite Neil Lennon making multiple changes in an attempt to turn things around, the Hoops failed to even register a shot on target in a league match for the first time in over a decade.
The celebrations at the final whistle were much more muted than after the 2-1 triumph at Parkhead last season, with the players and coaching staff clearly keen not to get carried away.
There was plenty of reaction on social media, though, with the Rangers Twitter admin aiming a dig at a Celtic fans group, while Scotland international and well-known bluenose, Oli McBurnie, raved about the performance.
Ahead of the game, partner clubs Orange County SC and Bengaluru FC wished the Gers luck, but they weren’t the only overseas clubs in the blue corner.

German side Hamburg have a long affiliation with Rangers and they sent their own message of support prior to the game.
They were in Bundesliga 2. action at more or less the same time against Greuther Fürth, but it didn’t stop the club’s English account from lauding the Gers’ win shortly after the final whistle in Glasgow.
The tweet references the prominent shamrocks in the badges of both Celtic and Fürth, who they defeated 1-0, and was very well received by Rangers fans.
