Greg Docherty has spoken to the Glasgow Evening Times about his battle to earn a place in the Rangers team.
The 22-year-old spent last season in EFL League One on loan at Shrewsbury Town. It was a move he asked for after it was made clear to him his opportunities would be limited at Ibrox.

Since then, the Gers have recruited even more midfield quality. The likes of Steven Davis and Glen Kamara have come in to really bolster the manager’s options.
Yet, due to the quality of his displays whilst on loan and his work throughout pre-season, Docherty is an active member of the first-team squad once more.
“Hopefully I can get more game time this year and really just plugging away and learning off some good players and great coaching staff,” Docherty
“Afterwards they put it straight down, they told me there were boys in my way but to come and force my way in.
“And I feel like over this pre-season I have done that. The season starts today, and I am still here, and that’s a big bonus.”

Greg Docherty delighted with his Gers progression
As a blue nose, Docherty is determined to make this stint at Ibrox a successful one.
It would have been easy to drift along whilst on loan last season, but he pushed himself, played 50 matches and took his game up a notch.
Now, against the odds, he finds himself very much in the manager’s thoughts. The midfielder is still waiting for his first Gers goal, but he’s impressed with his work rate and tenacity when given a chance during the Europa League qualifiers.
He got 15 minutes as a substitute in Luxembourg on Thursday and will be hoping to play some part in the Scottish Premiership opener against Killie.
