Former Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been left somewhat jilted after Besiktas decided not to appoint him after all.
The Rangers hot seat has been a difficult one ever since Steven Gerrard’s move to Aston Villa back in 2021.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst came in and took Rangers to the Europa League final, giving fans hope an exciting era.
That couldn’t be built upon and Van Bronckhorst was gone after just over a year with Michael Beale coming in.
Beale ran into similar problems and was sacked inside a year as Rangers pulled the trigger again and went for Philippe Clement.
Ex-Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst jilted for Besiktas job
Clement has enjoyed a great start at Rangers and optimism is high once again, but we are seeing mixed fates for his predecessors.
Beale is already back in work having landed the Sunderland job in December, bringing him in to replace former Celtic boss Tony Mowbray.
Van Bronckhorst remains out of work though and some Rangers fans will be baffled by Beale landing another job before the Dutchman.
We covered reports just a few days ago indicating that Van Bronckhorst was on the verge of becoming the new Besiktas manager.
Van Bronckhorst has now been left somewhat jilted at the altar though as Besiktas have now confirmed the appointment of Fernando Santos instead.

Besiktas have brought in former Portugal boss Santos and their decision means Van Bronckhorst’s wait for a managerial job goes on.
The Beşiktaş job has been a revolving door this season and Van Bronckhorst may have actually had a somewhat lucky escape.
Senol Gunes started the season but left in October, Burak Yilmaz replaced him as caretaker boss in October and Riza Calimbay lasted just seven games following his appointment in November.
Santos becomes the fourth Besiktas manager of the season and Santos will seemingly have his work cut out with the Turkish giants.
Van Bronckhorst has missed out on the job and will have to continue biding his time as he awaits another managerial chance after leaving Rangers.
