Steven Gerrard has spoken about Alfredo Morelos’ international prospects, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.
The Colombian has been Rangers’ star player this season. While 28 goals in all competitions is an outstanding tally, he only has a solitary cap for his country.
That came back in September, in a friendly win over Venezuela.
However, after the recent appointment of Carlos Quieroz to national team head coach, there’s a thought that his chances are looking up.
“I haven’t heard from him”, said Gerrard,

“He asked for my number recently, which I passed on, but I haven’t heard from Carlos just yet. He is more than welcome to come and watch Alfredo.”
“I’m sure he has watched him from afar and really liked what he’s seen. I think if anyone deserves an international call up it’s Alfredo Morelos.”
“We want as many international footballers as we can. We want to see all our players enjoying experiences playing for their countries.”
Some club managers can get protective over their biggest assets.
Travelling to and playing in international fixtures clearly increases the chances of wear and tear for players, but Gerrard recognises how big an honour this would be for Morelos.
With 114 England caps to his name, he knows what it’s like to have the shoe on the other foot.
