Few would have thought that Saudi Arabia would turn into a Rangers reunion but with Mark Allen joining Steven Gerrard at Al Etiffaq, that’s exactly what has happened.
The former Light Blues sporting director had a short spell in Swansea after leaving Glasgow, however, he is now set to join the man he was largely responsible for appointing, according to The Herald.
Rangers parted ways with Mark Allen in 2019 and after Ross Wilson left earlier this year, John Bennett has to get more than just the manager appointment right.

Rangers reunion for sporting director Mark Allen
Allen had his flaws in terms of recruitment.
Having arrived from Manchester City’s academy, there was an excitement about the prospect of bringing in talented youngsters.
Instead, we saw Aaron Nemane and Brandon Barker arrive whilst Celtic signed Olivier Ntcham and Jeremie Frimpong.
Gerrard obviously rates his former Rangers boss though, giving these words of thanks to Mark Allen on his departure:
“I would like to place on record my sincere gratitude to Mark for the incredible support he has shown to me and all of my staff since I came to the club 16 months ago.
“Mark’s success here is evident for all to see.”

The core of Rangers title winning team was recruited by Mark Allen.
Steven Gerrard obviously had a few ideas of his own but, as the former Gers boss said, Allen more than played his part.
The pair will have a lot more money to spend at Al Ettifaq than they did at Rangers when they set about rebuilding a squad battered by years of neglect.
Allen certainly won’t be looking at Man City academy rejects when Gerrard gives him his next list of needs and wants.
