Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has spoken out about Steven Davis, as quoted by the Scotsman.
The Northern Ireland international captain arrived on loan from Southampton, last month.

It is, of course, his second spell at the club.
However, this one hasn’t panned out just as well, so far.
He’s struggled to make his presence felt on the pitch and has consistently looked off the pace.
Last weekend, he even missed out on the match day squad to face Aberdeen.
For tonight’s SPL fixture against Hibernian, it could be more of the same.
MORE RANGERS STORIES

“I’ve had quite a few conversations with Steven since he arrived”, said Gerrard, as quoted by the Scotsman.
“He needs to keep pushing, keep fighting, keep earning the right to get an opportunity. Listen, no-one can knock on my door and say they haven’t had a fair crack of the whip.”
“Maybe we will just need to be a bit more patient and build his fitness up and build his confidence up. I’m sure being out of the frame at Southampton this season will have affected his mental thinking and also his physical condition.”

It doesn’t exactly sound as if the midfielder is primed for a recall.
That’s despite Ryan Jack being a doubt for the crunch fixture.
If Rangers are to mount a genuine league challenge, they simply can’t afford anymore slip ups. If Davis genuinely isn’t in his best 18, he can’t feature this evening.
