Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has hinted that the club’s fans could see new signing Jack Simpson against Hamilton this weekend.

The Gers are set to travel to Hamilton on Sunday as they look to take yet another step towards a legendary 55th title.

Simpson’s fellow deadline day signing Scott Wright was on the bench for the visit of St. Johnstone in midweek but never got off the it in the 1-0 victory.

But Gerrard has told the pre-match press conference before the clash that both players could be involved in some capacity against Brian Rice’s side.

“Jack’s trained with the team for the first time today,” said Gerrard [Rangers].

“We had to be a little bit more patient with him due to the Covid testing.

“Scott’s Aberdeen test allowed him to be involved a bit quicker, Scott’s had one or two sessions he’s a little bit further ahead.

“Quite possibly could see both at the weekend, I haven’t picked my squad yet.

“They’re both fit, well and ready and available which is a real positive.”

Bournemouth defender Simpson, 24, joined the club on deadline day on a six-month loan deal following the signing of a pre-contract agreement at Ibrox.

According to one journalist this deal went through due to a sell-on clause being inserted into the player’s contract but this is in conflict with other reports which claim a fee was involved.
