Yesterday, it was confirmed that as many as 12,000 Rangers supporters would be descending on Vienna ahead of tonight’s do or die Europa League clash.
Those are near unprecedented numbers to follow a British club in any European competition. What’s more, there are only 2500 tickets for the away end. Yet, incredibly, Rapid are keen to accommodate as many as they can.

In the pre-match presser, the staggering support was the first thing on the agenda. Andy Halliday, a lifelong blue nose, saw it coming.
“Rangers fans have followed the club in their numbers for years, so i’m not too surprised. But yeah, there’ll certainly be extra demand for tickets!”
Fan safety essential
Steven Gerrard, believes fan safety is paramount to a successful night.
“First and foremost, we hope that they all all remain safe and enjoy the occasion.”

He too, expected the Bears to travel in their droves. Yet, he still lavished praise on the supporters.
“They love the club, they’re passionate and they want to be part of big games.”
He made it clear though, that rather than go into detail about their approach, he wants his players do the talking on the pitch.

“I don’t want to give them a message in terms of what we’re going to do, tomorrow, in terms of the performance.’
‘I want the players to go and make the supporters proud…by emptying everything they’ve got and leaving it on the pitch.”
The message is clear from both the manager and the Halliday. Thank you for the incredible support, stay safe throughout your trip and hopefully we’ll get the job done.
