Gennaro Gattuso is understood to be keen on taking over the reins at Rangers in the future.
The Italian was at Ibrox for a year before he left for Italy and eventually became a legend at AC Milan.
Since 2013, he has moved into football management and is currently a free agent after failing to guide Italy to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Five players have been shortlisted for Player of the Season…
Who should win it in your view, and why?
Pedro Mendes believes Gennaro Gattuso would love the Rangers job
Former Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes believes that the Italian would be the perfect manager for the club and that he would love to return to Ibrox.
In Mendes’ view, he is loved by the fans and that would make it easier for him to adapt to the Scottish Premiership.
This would be in stark contrast to Russell Martin, who wasn’t adored by the fanbase since day one and his reign turned sour pretty quickly.

Mendes believes that Gattuso has that temper that would win over the Ibrox faithful and that he should be managing the Light Blues in the future.
He expects it to happen in the years to come and does not see any reason for it not working out.
The Portuguese said: “Gennaro Gattuso would be a perfect manager for Rangers one day.
“He has that passion, he has that temper that Rangers fans love. He’s such a loved person at Ibrox.
“I can’t see why it won’t happen, in the future, because for sure he would love the job. When you think of the way Gattuso used to play and the passion he put into his game, it was all about Rangers and the Rangers fans loved it.
“So I can’t see why it won’t happen in the future. It would be great to see Gattuso in the dugout at Ibrox for Rangers. I’d love to see it in person.”
Gennaro Gattuso would certainly be a great candidate to manager Rangers…
What do YOU make of his Ibrox return? 🤔
What can Rangers fans expect if Gattuso becomes the manager in the future?
Having Gattuso in the dugout would certainly be an exciting experience for the fans, as he’s got that personality and charisma to ensure that he’s always making the headlines.
He loves the club, having been a former player, and that feeling would instantly rub off on the dressing room.
The Italian would also be extremely honest and brutal in press conferences, as he is not known to mince his words.
Gattuso would also demand a lot from the players and if he is to take over mid-season, the difference in their work rates will be evident.
He likes playing a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 and is not the biggest fan of a high press like Danny Rohl.
Instead, he prioritises emphasising a mid-block press with his players being compact without the ball.
Gattuso’s teams usually play at a high tempo, and it is a more direct brand of football that Rangers fans have been used to seeing in recent years.
