Gary Neville has spoken about his desire for a new ‘British League’, as quoted by the Daily Record.
The idea of Rangers and Celtic joining the English league structure has been circulated, with varying degrees of seriousness, for many years.
Yet, clamours understandably died down during Rangers’ enforced absence from the Scottish top flight.
Now, a leading Premier League pundit, looks to have reopened the debate.
“I have always been a big advocate of a British league with Celtic and Rangers in”, said Neville, as quoted by
the Record.
“How they’d do is tough to say, but these are huge clubs and it’s something I’ve thought for a long time.”
The former Manchester United full-back sees it as a logical option which would stop the Old Firm clubs haemorrhaging their best talent South of the border.

After all, Brendan Rodgers has just abandoned ship across the city, to take over at Leicester.
“It was no real surprise to see him take the job with the lure of the Premier League. We saw that when Virgil van Dijk left the champions – a club the size of Celtic – to join Southampton.”
Obviously, if this were ever to come to fruition, there would be massive logistical issues to overcome.
