Yet more reports have come out rubbishing Rangers transfer links to Coventry midfielder Gustavo Hamer after a leading club insider broke the news the Gers weren’t interested.

On their Daily Update [14/01/21], popular podcasters Heart & Hand revealed that the Ibrox side were “not interested” in Brazilian star Hamer after links appeared in the Press Association [BT].

“I can tell you that this [the link to Hamer] isn’t true,” said Heart & Hand host David Edgar.

“Rangers are not interested in Gustavo Hamer, he is not a player who is currently on their radar.”

Now, reports have cropped up elsewhere in the press appearing to confirm that “Ibrox sources” have revealed the player is not of interest to Rangers.

According to the Scottish Sun – a story which appeared after the original Heart & Hand claims – and Ibrox source has told them that “there’s nothing in this at all”.

It further backs up the suggestion that Rangers are not interested in the player, who only joined Coventry City in the summer on a reported £1.2m deal [Coventry Telegraph].

The report originally linking the player to Ibrox claimed Rangers were looking to Hamer with veteran Steven Davis having played a lot of football and Ryan Jack struggling with injuries.

Hamer, 23, also played at Ibrox in the summer as Rangers defeated Coventry 2-0 in Glasgow in July as part of a pre-season friendly.

The midfielder isn’t the only player being linked with Rangers this January but there is one name where the interest appears a little more concrete.
