Furious Aston Villa communications director Tommy Jordan has hit back at reports that ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is to be fired from his manager’s role at Villa Park.
The legendary former Liverpool midfielder is under immense pressure in Birmingham after a difficult start to the season was compounded with a 2-0 loss to Graham Potter’s Chelsea over the weekend.
The result has Aston Villa in 16th despite six months of substantial investment and – albeit amid a run of major back luck with injuries – the club has one win in five and only nine points from 10 games this season.
It’s led to plenty in the Holte End calling for ex-Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to be sacked but at the moment the under-fire manager appears to be hanging on to his job by a thread.

Despite this, Football Insider have ran a story claiming that Aston Villa have already made their mind up on the scouser with Gerrard ALREADY sacked from his job with the club.
The report claims that the Villa Park hierarchy have already made the decision with Stevie G leaving the Villains with “immediate effect”.
But this has been rebuffed by Aston Villa communications director Tommy Jordan, who claims that the story is “complete lies” and questioned the legitimacy of the publication.
Urging the accounts followers to unfollow them on Twitter, the Aston Villa director is clearly furious at what he claims is an incorrect and misleading article.
Interestingly, the FI report names Villarreal boss Unai Emery and ex-PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino as potential replacements for the under fire Steven Gerrard.
The latter in particular is a name sounded out by the likes of the Telegraph, who claim Argentine boss Pochettino is a legitimate Aston Villa target to replace Gerrard if he is sacked this week.
They claim that the ex-Rangers manager’s job could depend on earning results against Fulham and Brentford in the Premier League this week.
