As Rangers ran out 1-0 winners against Ross County, fans are generally pleased with what was a hard-fought victory amid some pretty woeful form.
Rangers are still miles off the pace and the club’s supporters are looking for a breath of fresh air to spark a much-needed change in attitude and performances.
For many Rangers fans, today was the perfect opportunity to let one player in particular try to make that difference.
Rangers Academy prospect Nathan Patterson is considered one of the club’s leading youth talents.
Patterson impressed on his club debut against Stranraer in January, with Rangers handing the youngster a new contract just a month previously.
With James Tavernier out with an injury sustained at Hamilton, many felt the trip to Ross County was the perfect chance to give the youngster much-needed minutes.
Instead, it was Matt Polster who started at right-back as the back-up utility man got a rare opportunity in Dingwall.
Polster barely put a foot wrong but for many fans, the fact we’re playing a player who could have little future at the club over a youngster who is said to have a massive one is a great source of frustration.
Here’s how the Rangers support reacted to Patterson’s absence against Ross County:
Nothing against Polster but these are the games now we should be embedding Patterson in.

Personally wouldve played Patterson, but I actually like Polster. Every time I've seen him play I've been impressed. Underrated imo

If yer telling me Flanagan and Polster are better than Nathan Paterson please just shut the academy now.

Patterson and Kai in the squad 😍 Patterson should easily be starting over Polster who will go in summer with Nathan long term successor at rb.
Morelos really needs to start scoring again https://t.co/sCJsafO8ho

Patterson was however named on the bench for the visit to County, with fellow youth prospect Kai Kennedy named alongside him.
