Rangers are being linked with a move for Frank Lampard and he has spoken for the first time since Michael Beale’s departure.
The Gers decided to part ways with Beale on Sunday night, just over 24 hours after a torrid 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen.
Beale had been under mounting pressure for weeks and Rangers have decided to pull the trigger.
Beale didn’t even last a year in the job having returned to Ibrox from Queens Park Rangers in November of last year.
The search is on for Beale’s successor and one big name has been linked with a move to Ibrox…
Frank Lampard comments on his current situation amid Rangers links
Glasgow World claim that Rangers are interested in speaking to Frank Lampard about taking the reins at Ibrox.
Lampard is thought to be alongside Kevin Muscat and Chris Wilder on Rangers’ shortlist to replace Beale.
Lampard ended last season as Chelsea’s interim manager but may now be seeking a route back into management.
The former England star has now told Sky Sports that he is experiencing much less stress in his life having spent a few months away from the dugout.
Lampard didn’t give anything away in terms of his next job, but admitted that he is enjoying being with his family a little more.
Lampard thinks having time to recharge his batteries is important, so it’s unclear just whether he would be up for the Rangers job right now.
“Less stress!” said Lampard when asked about how he’s finding life out of management. “I think it comes with the territory with managing, especially the stress of the Premier League, the expectations… in any job. I think it’s important that you try and find the time out of the game to recharge a bit, enjoy things you don’t get the chance to do when you’re working, so I’m probably in that spot at the moment,” he added.

Lampard would be a gamble for Rangers
The obvious comparison here is to Steven Gerrard.
Lampard and Gerrard were linked together throughout their playing careers, with debates rumbling on over who was the better midfield and how to get them into the same England team.
That big-name presence was a real factor for Gerrard in terms of the respect he commanded at Rangers and the experience of handling high-pressure situations.
Lampard has that too, but his managerial record isn’t all that impressive.
Lampard had just one season with Derby County before heading to Chelsea, where he was sacked just months before Thomas Tuchel guided them to Champions League glory.
Next up was Everton, where Lampard couldn’t kick on after achieving Premier League survival in 2022.
Lampard ended up back at Chelsea but also couldn’t get them back on track either, paving the way for Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival.
There are major question marks surrounding Lampard’s tactical nous and Rangers must think long and hard over whether he is really the right man to take the club forward.
