It’s fourteen years to the day since Gregory Vignal and Nacho Novo secured Rangers first win at Parkhead in five long trips around the sun.
In an iconic Old Firm victory, Vignal opened the scoring with a low driven shot that flapped through Rab Douglas’ hands.
Nacho Novo rounded off the scoring in a 2-0 which ended Rangers Old Firm hoodoo at Parkhead.

Famously, this is the season Rangers would go on to win the title on Helicopter Sunday.
Rangers won the title by a solitary point, and this victory was one of the most important of the campaign.
The club literally couldn’t have done it without it. It’s as sweet an Old Firm victory as they come and one which has lived very long in the memory of Rangers fans.

It’s clearly lived long in the memory of Gregory Vignal and Nacho Novo too.

Both players continue to be connected to the club and are ambassadors of Rangers. Vignal is a coach with the youth sides at Ibrox and Novo continues to be a fan favourite.
The last time a Rangers team beat Celtic at Parkhead before that was when Rod Wallace scored the only goal in a 1-0 win back in March 2000.
More recently, Ryan Jack stole the show as Rangers beat Celtic 1-0 in December last year. This ended a baron run of 12 games without Old Firm victory.
