Four Rangers players have been named in the Who Scored Scottish Premiership Team of the Week following the sides impressive 5-0 thrashing of Hearts on Sunday.

Leon Balogun, James Tavernier, Alfredo Morelos, and Ryan Kent were all given the honour given their performances as Rangers simply had to win to cut Celtic’s advantage at the top of the table to just one point.

Returning ace Morelos achieved the highest score out of starting XI, a perfect ten in what was his first match since returning from international duty.

Balogun impressed in his first league start since November 7, scoring 7.7, whilst Tavernier and Kent were rated 8.2 and 9.3 respectively.

Rangers stars receive weekly honour after Hearts thrashing

Following the Old Firm defeat, I doubt anyone thought the performance against Hearts was going to be so clinical and result in a 5-0 win.

Full credit must go to the players, who must have felt the weight of expectation ahead of the crucial tie. This week may have been pivotal in the title race, and had the Gers not won yesterday then serious questions would have been asked.

In truth, there could have been more players in the TOTW, with Ryan Jack showing just what we have missed in the middle of the park with his first start of the season.

Although weekly honours are always nice and shows how well certain individuals have played, winning is all that matters.

With 13 matches to go in the hunt for the title, every game should be taken one at a time, add into the mix European football and Scottish Cup ties, then there could well be a frantic end to the season if all goes to plan.

Rangers face a quick turnaround as Hibs are the next opponents at Ibrox on Wednesday evening in what is another vital match.

In other news, John Lundstram may still be in the thoughts of van Bronckhorst following his excellent showing yesterday.
