Back in January, Rangers were linked with then Charlton Athletic striker, Karlan Grant.
The Scottish Sun reported that the Gers wanted Grant on a pre-contract, as a potential replacement for Alfredo Morelos.
At the height of the rumours, Steven Gerrard reportedly sent a member of staff to watch Grant in action against Accrington Stanley, in League One.
It was a game in which he scored the winner, with an injury time penalty.
However, a move to Ibrox never materialised.
Instead, he chose to
join Huddersfield Town on a three-year contract.
Since then, he’s had an unremarkable start – his only contribution being a late consolation goal in a home defeat to Arsenal.
On Saturday afternoon though, the 21-year-old sprung into action.

He scored an impressive brace at the London Stadium, which put his new side into a 3-1 lead against West Ham.
The first was a tidy finish resulting from a set piece. The second, a screamer from 20 yards into the top left corner.
For the first time, Rangers got a glimpse of what they could have had.
On another day of huffing and puffing with little end product at Ibrox, it makes it even more galling.
We’ll probably never know how close he come to joining the Gers, but on this evidence, it looks a shame he didn’t.
