Gordon Greer has praised Rangers defender Connor Goldson, as quoted by the Express.
The Gers brought the 26-year-old centre-back to Ibrox in the summer, for a reported fee of £3 million.

Since then, he has made a whopping 46 appearances in the famous shirt.
That’s despite going through surgery on a potentially dangerous heart problem two years ago this week.
At the time, his career looked in doubt, but he overcame the problem and is now thriving.

Gordon Greer was a teammate of Goldson’s at Brighton and has a lot of admiration for how he dealt with things.

“It was a devastating blow for Connor when he found out about his heart condition”, said Greer, as quoted by the Express.
“There’s no doubt that his attitude to life and his career helped him deal with the health issue.

“You could see he had the hunger and desire to succeed and that goes a long way in professional football when it’s all about the small margins.
“He is driven to be the best he can be and I wouldn’t be surprised if he still has ambitions to return one day to England to the highest level possible.”

Verdict

Goldson’s story is an amazing one, making how quickly he settled in at Rangers all the more remarkable.
While there have been occasional lapses, he’s been the club’s most consistent defender this season.
At 26, he should be reaching his peak as a defender. Therefore, who’s to say a Premier League return is out of the question.
For now, though, the Vice-Captain’s priority must be bringing silverware back to Ibrox.
