Former Rangers star Daniel Candeias has been given some impressive individual recognition by being named in the Turkish Super Lig Team of the Month for October.
The 31-year-old winger left Ibrox for Genclerbirligi in July after Steven Gerrard informed him that he wouldn’t play as regularly as he had done across 2018/19 [Scottish Sun].

It’s been a tough start to life in the top-flight for the newly-promoted side.
They currently sit second bottom of the table with just seven points from ten matches, having recorded only one win.
Candeias inspired that surprise 6-0 away victory at Antalyaspor on 19 October and it seems that’s how the Portuguese earned himself a spot in the select XI.

Gencler were 5-0 up at half-time on the day, with the ex-Ger netting a hattrick and also assisting the other two goals, that were scored by Giovanni Sio.
It was an outstanding display from the talented and industrious wide man.

Just like during his time at Ibrox, though, there’s been a lack of consistency from Candeias. Therefore, while he had that incredible 45 minutes, he didn’t score or register an assist in the other two league games he played last month. In fact, he only has one assist to show for his other nine league appearances this campaign [Transfermarkt].
In the first game of October, the Ankara-based outfit ground out a 0-0 draw against Galatasaray, while at the end of month, they slipped to a 2-0 home defeat to Denizlispor.
Candeias took to Twitter to share his inclusion in the Team of the Month:
He was always a popular figure when donning a Rangers shirt, and it’s good to see him having a degree of success after leaving for a new challenge in the summer.
