Former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has scored his first goal in his second spell at Championship side Kilmarnock as they defeated Inverness 1-0 in what was a top-of-the-table clash with much at stake.
Lafferty was making his first start since joining the side as a free agent after he agreed to mutually terminate his contract with Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta following a poor spell in Cyprus.

He didn’t have to wait long to make an impression, scoring after only nine minutes and it was a lead that the Ayrshire side didn’t relinquish.
Kyle Lafferty makes an instant impression as Kilmarnock chase down Arbroath
The result moves Kilmarnock up to second in the table, behind Arbroath as the chase for the title heats up.
The club was struggling at the start of the season under former manager Tommy Wright, but they seem revitalised under Derek McInnes in what was a real coup for the club.
It’s always good to see a former Ibrox player do well and although Lafferty’s career has been nomadic, playing for teams in Italy, Switzerland, and Cyprus amongst others, he remains fondly remembered in Glasgow.
The Northern Irishman came up with some clutch moments during his first spell at Rangers, scoring goals that won the title for the Gers in 2010 and 2011.
A second spell followed under Steven Gerrard for the 2018/2019 campaign, he couldn’t live up to his previous highs, although he did score a goal against Villarreal in the Europa League.

The striker might just be back at Ibrox next season if Kilmarnock keeps up this good form and win the Championship title.
