Former Rangers forward Duncan Ferguson managed Everton to a stunning Premier League win over Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

The 47-year-old was placed in interim charge of the Toffees earlier in the week, following the sacking of Marco Silva.

The club were languishing in the bottom three in the English top-flight following a dreadful start to the season, with a 5-2 midweek hammering at Anfield proving the final straw for the board.

Yet, despite only having a day in the post before an early Saturday afternoon kick-off against Frank Lampard’s side, a suited-up big Dunc breathed new life into the Everton players and the crowd at Goodison Park.

In a storming start to the fixture, Richarlison opened the scoring after just four minutes, prompting Ferguson to sprint down the touchline in a Jose Mourihno-esque celebration.

Everton doubled their advantage courtesy of a Dominic Calvert-Lewin finish shortly after the break, and the interim boss this time chose to swing a ball boy around in delight.

Chelsea pulled one back through Mateo Kovacic ensuring a nervy next half an hour or so before Calvert-Lewin secured the three points with his second, which again prompted a joyous Ferguson to set off down the touchline.

Everton have asserted that a permanent replacement for Silva will be named as soon as possible, so this could be Ferguson’s one and only game in charge. He certainly made a good job of it, though.
