Former Rangers defender Nathan Patterson could shine in the Premier League if Frank Lampard takes the Everton job, as the club has reportedly offered the Chelsea legend the role.

Patterson signed for Everton at the beginning of January under former manager Rafa Benitez, but he has yet to make his debut for the side.

Benitez was sacked only a few weeks into the young defender’s move as Duncan Ferguson was appointed in temporary charge of the Toffees as they began the hunt for a new manager.

Patterson wasn’t even named on the bench in Fergusons first match in charge against Aston Villa in what must have been tough to take, with the former Rangers star looking to make an impression under his fellow Scot.

This could all change if Lampard takes the job, as his philosophy on giving youth talent a chance could yet again come to fruition.

When he was manager of Chelsea, he gave debuts to Billy Gilmour and Mason Mount, two highly-rated talents who just needed to be shown some confidence by their manager to grab the opportunity.

Gilmour has grown to become a key member of the Scotland squad and featured in the delayed Euro 2020 competition.

Patterson could thrive if the Englishman rocks up on Merseyside.

Lampard impressed at Derby and did a solid if an unspectacular job at former side Chelsea before being sacked in January 2021 and has been out of management ever since.

A return to the Premier League at Everton could be the catalyst that will kickstart his managerial career, and Nathan Patterson may well be hoping the move becomes a reality.

Meanwhile, Rangers are still in talks with Borussia Dortmund and UEFA with regards to the restrictions in Germany ahead of the playoff tie.
