After a remarkable turn of events, a former Rangers striker is set to line up alongside an England and Manchester United legend.
Martyn Waghorn left Rangers in 2017, returning to England with Ipswich Town. However, a year later, he was on his way to Debry County, with the opportunity to play under Frank Lampard too good to turn down.

Waghorn enjoyed a decent 2018/19 season and scored in the playoff final, as the Rams came within a whisker of promotion to the Premier League.
Since then, it’s been all change at Pride Park, with Lampard leaving for the Chelsea hot seat. The big names just keep coming, though, with 100 plus-capped Holland international Phillip Cocu, taking over the reins.
However, the best was yet to come.

It remains to be seen whether Rooney will be deployed in an attacking or a midfield role. Yet, either way, it’s highly likely that Waghorn will soon be lining up alongside the modern-great.
The ex-Ger must be pinching himself at the opportunity, but reacted hilariously to demands he relinquish his current no.9 shirt for the ex-England captain.
Waghorn didn’t always produce during his stint at Ibrox, but he’s an industrious forward who clearly still feels a strong affinity with the club.
When Rooney eventually links up with his new club in January, it’ll be interesting to see if the two players can strike up an effective partnership.
