Former Rangers star Daniel Candeias is involved in a Turkish Super Lig relegation battle with Gençlerbirligi who are currently on a wretched run of form.
Candeias was very much a fan favourite during his two-year stint at Ibrox, across which he made 97 appearances in all competitions, producing 14 goals and 25 assists.

He left to sign a two-year deal with Gençlerbirligi in 2019 and played regularly in his first season as his new club finished 12th in the Turkish top-flight.
The Ankara-based side spent time at the bottom of the table during that campaign before eventually pulling clear and 22 games into the 2020/21 season, they find themselves in trouble once again.
Candeias has four goals and two assists so far and received rave reviews for standout displays in a pair of wins in December.
However, his contributions have dropped off since the turn of the year and his team are on a very poor run of form.
Gençler are winless in six matches, taking just a solitary point from those games and scoring only twice while suffering 6-0 and 4-0 beatings at the hands of Galatasaray and Goztepe respectively.

The run has left them 19th in the 21-team league and four points from safety. Remarkably, the team sitting just above the relegation spots in 17th are the 2019/20 champions, Istanbul Basaksehir.
With a home fixture against second-placed Besiktas next up on Monday, the challenges keep coming for the former Ger who may need to start performing in front of goal again if his club are to beat the drop.
If he can do that, he may earn a contract extension that would keep him in the Turkish capital beyond the end of the current season.
Candeias isn’t the only former Gers player now turning out in a top-flight European league, with a powerful midfielder currently flying high in Ligue 1.
