Former Rangers star and current Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly plotting a move for Odsonne Edouard in a deal which could significantly weaken rivals Celtic.

The Spanish boss is being linked with a move for Edouard by the Daily Mirror, who claim Arteta is sizing up an approach regardless of what happens with Gunners star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese forward is being linked with a move to Manchester United and Celtic striker Edouard could be considered a long-term replacement for the lethal frontman.

Any move for Edouard would likely see Celtic bank a considerable fee for the frontman but it is difficult to see how our Celtic Park rivals sign a replacement of similar ability.

Edouard is undoubtedly Celtic’s star player and should they lose the influence of the 22-year-old striker it would represent a significant blow to their chances.

As the domestic league shutdown forces clubs across the UK and the continent to take stock, Arsenal and all of Europe’s biggest sides will already be planning for the restart.

The Mirror report values the Celtic forward at £30m and Arsenal have previously shown a willingness to splash the cash at Parkhead having forked out £25m for Kieran Tierney at the start of the season.
